Are You Surrounded by the Right People?

When I say your environment can make or break you, I mean it. You can be the most positive person in the world, but if you surround yourself with negativity, it will inevitably seep into you—often without you even realizing it.

I used to believe that no matter who I was around, I would remain strong and confident. That my sense of self was unshakable. But let me tell you—sometimes, all it takes is one person to slowly chip away at your light.

As a child, I was sure of myself. Shy and reserved, yes, but deeply confident in who I was. I truly loved every part of me. I carried pride in how I showed up in the world, and I thought that would never change—until it did.

I met the wrong person. And little by little, I started to shrink. I was still me, but I no longer felt certain of who I was. Doubt crept in where confidence once stood. My essence never changed—I was still whole, still worthy—but this person clouded my vision. I could no longer see my own beauty.

And the hardest part? It didn’t matter that I had a loving family and supportive friends. That’s the danger of who we allow into our space. Just one person can cause so much harm. This is why we must be intentional about where we invest our energy and who we allow access to our hearts. Your inner world is sacred. Protect it.

But just as one person can bring you down, another can lift you up. One person can remind you of your light, your worth, your magic. I know not everyone has a whole army of support, but I believe we all have at least one person who has shown us kindness—someone who, even in a small way, has been a ray of light in our lives. Hold on to that.

I’ve been lucky to have a strong circle that lifted me when I felt drained, when I felt like my spark had been dimmed. And I know not everyone has that kind of support system. So if you don’t, I want this message to be your ray of light.

I may not know you personally, but I hope my words reach you like a warm, reassuring hug. I see you. If you're struggling, you are not alone. It may feel that way, but as I write this, I am pouring so much love into these words, hoping they bring you comfort.

Support is always available. Some of us have it more easily than others, but if you seek it, you will find it. The world is full of kindness. And remember, a support system isn’t just people—it can be books, music, nature, art. It can be anything that reminds you of your strength and helps you heal.

You deserve to be in an environment that nurtures you. Surround yourself with what fuels your soul, and never forget—you are worthy of love, safety, and light.

Weekly Reflection Assignment: Supportive Light

Close your eyes and play your favorite song. It can be slow, upbeat—whatever moves you. Choose a song that resonates deep within your bones, one that sparks pure joy.

As the music plays, bring to mind your support system. This doesn’t have to be specific people; it can be anything that brings you comfort. Maybe it’s your pet, a tree you pass by every day, a lyric that has stayed with you. There are no rules—just whatever makes you feel safe and held.

Now, in your mind’s eye, embrace this person, animal, or presence. Imagine them surrounding you with a warm, golden light—a love so pure and unwavering that nothing can diminish it.

Let it fill you. Let it consume every part of you with warmth and light. And know that this feeling is always within reach. Whenever darkness creeps in, return to this song, this moment, this light. It is yours to hold.

And lastly, I just want to remind you—I may not know you personally, but I hope my words feel like a warm hug when you need it most. No matter the distance, I am here. Always.
